The Book of Codes

This book titled Book of Codes written by Zaynur Ridwan is a farewell gift I had since January. I finally finished reading it after more than a month and the book is not thick at all. Mr. Ridwan has been writing 5 books with similar theme : worlds economic phenomenon, conspiracy and Islamic history novels. I was planning to collect all his books but then now I think one is enough. The story is quite interesting especially because I love history books (what a nerd…haha..). The writer put a fiction characters into a real structure of world conspiration involving a huge amount of treasure in bonds financial instruments that represent gold saving, belong to east nations (China, Indonesia, Philipines, etc) that managed by west nations stated in an agreement made in the past between leaders for humanity purposes. In present time, China tries to get back their golds and here where the point of story begins. All information about these gold accounts was saved in a secret book called : The Book of Codes. Started with the arrest of an Indonesian named Adipati by Italian finance police, the story then took journey around Italy, Netherland and Swiss to find the master of the secret book, discovering a high-level Freemansory meeting.

How the novel ended? In my opinion, the writer decided not to put a clear completion, readers may assume how it would go concerning the big truth of world economics. Would it be finally revealed or kept with its own risks ?

Dream Catcher

This is the 4th book written by Alanda Kariza, aged 21. The fantastic young lady that has numerous achievements and dreams. Big dreams. Her dreams inspire her to write Dream Catcher, a self-help how to make your dream comes true. In her young age, she and her friends organized The Cure For Tomorrrow, a social movement for teens, and held annual youth conference in Indonesia IYC (Int’l Youth Conference). Her activities and dreams brought her to become Indonesian panelist delegation in international event in Swiss.

After I read it, it is similar to the book Been There Done That Got The T-Shirt. The details how to define your dreams, how to catch them and even the funny illustrations inside. It’s just that BTDTGTT is focused on filling your life time with interesting positive activities, DC is more seriously motivate you to know yourself, dream big,  have a courage to believe and  pursue. The point is do not waste your time.

Negeri Para Bedebah

Just finished another book written by Tere Liye titled Negeri Para Bedebah. The main character is Thomas a famous financial consultant, he trapped in a deep trouble when his uncle’s bank collapsed. As the only one family member the only choice is to struggle saving the bank before government announce that the bank is closed and bankrupt. The book clearly describe financial/banking industry in a nation (and world) with its behavior, government, politic, economy and corrupt people. How Thomas played the game, manipulated data and escaped from law.

As usual for Tere Liye, my opinion is that there’s always some a-bit-out-of-logic scenes happened in the novel.  For example like, office building full of worker on Saturday or how Thomas always succeeded in escaping from police troop. Anyway, this is some read if you want to know how global market works, banking industry and so on in a simple explanation.

Tokyo Zodiac Murders

Written by Shoji Shimada, I found myself so much passionate in reading this Japanese novel. Mystery genre about a couple amateur detectives named Mr. Mutarai and Mr. Ishioka in 1979 who try to solve the mystery of the legend Tokyo Zodiac Murders happened in 1936. The serial killings started with the death of an artist Umezawa in a locked studio leaving a horrible message book told the public that he would try to create Azoth. Azoth is a super-powerful-perfect lady which its elements made from 6 different virgins’ body parts.  Not long after his death, his oldest daughter Kazue was also mysteriously killed. Soon after the oldest one, the rest of  daughters and nieces of Umezawa (6 in total) missing in the same time and found mutilated and buried in 6 different places. Someone had mutilated their head, breast, belly, hip and leg  that assumed to create Azoth. Police couldn’t arrested the killer based on clues except Masako the second wife of Umezawa. Many detectives’ investigation even found nothing to accomplish while public of Japan waiting how the case ended at the time.

The writer Mr. Shimada challenges the reader to solve the mystery as he put some clues in the novel to be figured-out in his note to reader. He humbly think that the reader has known the killer in the middle of the book! I honestly clueless and couldn’t solve the mystery, I personally guess I was too focused in Azoth and zodiac stuff :)

Been There Done That Got The T-Shirt

Need a refreshment in the middle of your boring life? This book could be the answer. Written by Risyiana Muthia and illustrated by Emeralda N.A., the book shows how to live your life to the fullest. The cover is eyecatcy and the inside even more. Contains motivating texts, self-guide and drawings. Some book!

Doing a big thing is good but you can also doing some small useful things that somehow will useful and in the same time will differentiate your day a lot. In 1 day you should try 3 new something that never been done before. Example : saying "I don’t speak ____ " in 10 languages,  making soap, riding horse and so so much more. The book even teach you how to crack an egg by one hand and learn sign language.

The main idea is it motivates you to become a creative person and risk-taker before getting regret and old, because life is short. So it's all up to you...
